Not all children who have a writing block or dysgraphia also have visual/spatial problems, but they often overlap. This is the most common learning block that gifted children have. Many times it isn't even identified until a child is a teenager and not turning in written work! You will even find out if your child is hard wired to be right handed or left handed.
In this DVD you will learn how to identify a child with a writing glitch, dysgraphia, visual/spatial problems, and, more importantly, how to eliminate those problems using a proven method. This exercise was originally developed to improve eye/hand coordination and ball handling ability in sports. Coaches said these students just "knew where they were in the field after doing this exercise."
My son and I have just started using this. So easy to use. My son does not complain about doing it, he likes the exercises, age 10.
This was a thorough lecture of writing blocks for all ages and a demo of how to correctly administer the Writing Eight exercise at home. She also answers questions and tells you what to expect. The demo was important as it helped clarify some questions I had.
I found this video easy to understand, and SO affirming and encouraging, not only because I can understand this learning disability better, but because Diane illustrates & relates examples she's seen, which totally concur with observations of my son with Dysgraphia. She also offers a solution, which I am SO eager to try. I waited for one more piece of info. though, that I thought I understood her to say would be included in the video. For most people with Dysgraphia, SPELLING is nearly impossible to master. She mentioned something about using a right-brain approach with "taking mental pictures" to improve/work with it...but it never came up again. Since this is a major issue with Dysgraphia, I assumed this video would address some possible solutions for that obstacle as well. It remains a big issue for us daily. Additionally, like another reviewer mentioned, I can appreciate her love of God and her faith, but I felt mentioning it in the context of how are brains/bodies were made is a personal belief, and not necessarily appropriate for educational materials geared for public consumption.
